Mark your calendar for March 19-20, 2016. Those are the dates for the 33rd Annual San Diego Cake Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Top pastry chefs and sugar artists from around California will provide sweet tools and tips.
Calling all sugar artists! You will have a chance to show what you can do pastry-wise as well as pick up some nifty tips at the 33rd Annual San Diego Cake Show. Everyone is invited to this very tasty event, including master pastry chefs, local bakers, and novice decorators. It runs for two full days: Saturday, March 19, 2016 and Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in nearby Del Mar, CA, the Cake Show boasts a cake design competition (open to one and all), a plethora of decorating classes (all skill levels welcome), and appearances by a celebrity Master Chef and the Next Great Baker. There will also be raffles galore and booths with vendors who will showcase delightful decorating tools and supplies.
The San Diego Cake Show is the largest show of its kind in the entire Golden State. It's also not just a cake show. In fact, it's known by the name "Confections for a Cause." That's because a percentage of the proceeds go to a very important cause: Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. And speaking of proceeds, tickets are $8.50 per person per day. You can save a buck when you buy tickets for both days ($16 instead of $17). And children 8 years old and younger are absolutely free.
